3rd Milan Highland Ball

Invitation to the
3rd Milan Highland Ball
Villa Medici Giulini, Briosco (MB)
17 June 2023

Dear Friends,
You are warmly invited to join us at our 3rd Milan Highland Ball at an exciting new venue: Villa Medici Giulini in Briosco, province of Monza Brianza (MB). Take a look at the website of this beautiful historical building (www.villamedici-giulini.it/en/), where the entire event will take place:
– walkthrough,
– visit to the gardens,
– aperitif,
– dinner and
– three hours of Scottish Country Dancing in the Teatrino, which has a fabulous atmosphere and… a wooden floor.

For an all-inclusive price of €80.

You can even sleep there at a very reasonable cost, considering the place.
Places are limited, so please book as soon as possible by replying to this email address (j.murphy@buroservice.com). The deadline for booking and payment is asap.

Cancellations after 1 June will not be refunded unless place is filled.
Payment by bank transfer to:
Milan Scottish Country Dancers ASD – IBAN: IT26F0306909606100000167170 – Swift: BCITITMM
Banca Intesa Branch no. 55000, Piazza Paolo Ferrari 10, 20121 Milano.

Dancing
The programme can be found on the flyer below.
It contains many of our favourite dances and I am sure that you will know most of them already. We consider this to be a “dancers’ event”, not a ceilidh, so we expect participants to be “up to par”. There will be a walkthrough in the afternoon, so there will not be one in the evening. Nor will the dances be called.

The music for our Ball will, as usual, be played by Michael Philip (accordion) and Paul Clancy (keyboards).

Arrival, departure and transport
Briosco is situated 33 km north of Milan and lies halfway between its two main airports: Malpensa (53 km/43 mins) and Orio al Serio (45-60 km/50-60 mins depending on the route you take). It is not well served by pubic transport, so the best option is a car or taxi.

Accommodation
Accommodation is obviously not included in the ticket price so it is up to you to arrange a hotel or B&B. Given the special prices that Villa Medici Giulini has offered us (single B&B: €100, double B&B: €120), I would recommend staying there. They only have 14 rooms (11 doubles and 3 singles) with accommodation for 25 people, so don’t leave it to the last minute. Book directly on www.villamedici-giulini.it/en/contact-us/. Quote “Milan Highland Ball” to get your special price.

Tourism
If there is interest, we will arrange for a group visit to Bergamo/Brescia, this year’s joint Capitals of
Culture. See bergamobrescia2023.it/en/visita-la-capitale/ to get an idea of what they offer.
